Do you know your “queerstory?” Explore the meaning behind queer symbols, discover the heroes that paved the way for our present day community, and learn more about the organizations and people bringing visibility and power to LGBTQIA+ people.

MONDAY: SYMBOLISM

CHALLENGES:

Option 1: Watch this video about the history of the rainbow flag.

Option 2: Read this article about a new, more inclusive rainbow flag design that celebrates racial diversity. 

Option 3: Discover some LGBTQIA+ symbols in this article.

TUESDAY: NATIONAL QUEER HISTORY

Option 1: Watch this video about the Stonewall Riots, an event often credited for marking the beginning of the LGBTQIA+ rights movement. 

Option 2: Read this article about the lesser known Compton’s Cafeteria riot, a historic act of trans resistance three years before Stonewall.
